Server2Go was built with use on CD-ROM in mind. A lot of features are only useful if you want to create a CD-ROM based web application. But that does not mean that you cannot use S2G as a development server for PHP or Perl. It has all the features you need without the hassle of configuring an Apache environment.

WAMPP-Stack

Server2Go has everything you need to get your Web application running

Apache 1.3.x, and 2.2.x (V1.6.0 of Server2Go or above)
PHP 5.3.x with a lot of Extensions. Downgrade packages to 4.4.x and 5.0.x available)
MySQL 5 support
Perl 5.8 with many CPAN modules integrated

Self-Configuration

Server2Go is self-adaptable to the user's environment:

Autodetect free ports for Apache and MySQL
Autodetection of proxy settings
Server2Go takes care of the correct configuration of Apache, PHP and MySQL depending on the environment

Built for use on CD-ROM or USB-Stick

Server2Go works on write protected media like CD-ROM without any problem
Starts up the Server software unseen to the user
Starts up a browser with the autodetected hostname and port
Auto shutdown of the server software after the browser is closed (default, can be changed)
Customisable Splash Screen with progress bar during start-up
The database can be used from CD-ROM or can be mirrored to the local machine
